Mother's Day - High Tea

What a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! A group of women from Eternity Christian Church, led by Ann O’Donoghue and Marie McVilly, hosted a magnificent afternoon High tea for the Mothers in and connected with our church. We sat at round tables beautifully laid with crisp white linen table cloths, fresh Gerberas as centrepieces surrounded by exquisite matching floral fine china cups, saucers and plates onto which went every imaginable scrumptious morsel. We indulged in heavenly chocolate truffles; a multitude of chocolate, caramel and nut slices; sandwiches with delicious fillings including chicken and smoked salmon; homemade sausage rolls; date, pumpkin and plain scones with jam and cream; melt in your mouth melting moments, carrot and chocolate cake and delicately decorated cup cakes all carefully placed on two and three tiered cake stands on a central table.

 We also had the privilege of listening to a special guest speaker while enjoying our endless cups of tea and fresh coffee (and food!)  who shared her personal loss as a Mother and how it deepened her faith in God as she struggled through all the questions and feelings tragedy brings. It brings us to a place of trusting in God alone as we face all the human struggles in life and search for answers. As Christians we know God is the answer.

As Mothers we share a special bond with each other that only another Mother can understand and as we ate, talked, laughed and shared our special afternoon together, I think we all felt pampered, blessed and cared for by each other – women caring for women.

On behalf of all the Mothers who came to the High tea I would like to thank Ann and Marie and all the women who contributed to a most enjoyable afternoon and the most amazing high tea!!!
